Healing Honestly

We developed an approachable brand and easy-to-update website for Healing Honestly, translating a SA survivor’s candid voice into a relatable blog.

Our Client

Healing Honestly offers trauma survivors compassionate, stigma-free resources and storytelling to support authentic healing and empowerment.

Our Approach

We guided Healing Honestly through a thoughtful brand discovery and web development process, beginning with moodboards and visual exploration to define Alisa's style and tone of voice. We then brought that brand to life through a website and custom design system. We additionally provided assets in tools she felt comfortable using (i.e. Canva) in order to empower her to continue creating on-brand materials for her social platforms with confidence.

Project Summary

Healing Honestly is a founder-led platform grounded in personal experience and dedicated to open, honest conversations about mental health, managing PTSD, and surviving childhood sexual abuse (SA). When we began working together, the site was approaching a natural transition point as its existing platform was being deprecated. This created an opportunity to reimagine the website in a way that better supported the founder’s voice, her audience, and the next phase of the project’s growth.

We led a migration to WordPress with a focus on improving the ease of content creation, while simultaneously collaborating with the founder to refresh the Healing Honestly brand. The updated visual identity reflects her resilient, candid tone: bold, bright, and unexpectedly humorous, even when engaging with heavy subject matter. Inspired by her writing style (featuring emoji and gifs) the design intentionally avoids somber or clinical cues, instead creating an experience that feels warm, direct, and approachable: like a conversation with a trusted, thoughtful friend.

The timing of the relaunch was especially important, as it coincided with the upcoming release of the founder’s first published book just months later. The new site needed to be ready not only for increased visibility, but also for regular content updates and ongoing engagement with readers. Every design and technical decision was made with that momentum in mind.

To support content creation and maintain a consistent brand presence, we built templates in Canva for social media posts and blog visuals. This empowers their founder to continue generate her own visuals and posts, while keeping it on brand and cohesive with the new site overall.

As a result, she has been able to regularly add new posts to the blog and successfully promote her newly published book.
