FutureEd
Our Client
FutureEd is a think tank at Georgetown University dedicated to improving American education through research, policy innovation, and informed public dialogue.
Our Approach
We helped FutureEd establish a new brand identity that fit seamlessly within Georgetown University’s ecosystem while distinguishing their voice. From brand strategy and logo design to a complete website rebuild and content migration, we created a more dynamic, discoverable platform for their work.

reduction in taxonomy complexity (streamlined from 1000+ tags to 18 focus areas)
custom content blocks enabling endlessly reconfigurable, on-brand layouts
Colors That Work for Everyone
We crafted an AA-compliant color palette that ensures every page is clear and readable. Content managers can focus on writing, confident that their work is accessible to all visitors, even those with low vision or color perception challenges.
Simplified Taxonomies, Meaningful Focus Areas
We streamlined FutureEd’s taxonomy from more than 1,000 disorganized tags to 18 meaningful focus areas. Then we developed a dynamic collections tool that allows editors to build new, curated topic pages by selecting relevant tags (without writing or uploading anything new).
Project Summary
We began by refreshing FutureEd’s brand identity, creating a new logo, typographic direction, color system, and supporting design assets. Lockup variations and a favicon were also developed to ensure consistency while staying aligned with Georgetown University’s brand. The updated identity provides a modern, professional look that reflects FutureEd’s thought leadership and forward-thinking approach.
On the website side, we focused on improving the user experience and making FutureEd’s extensive content library more accessible. We streamlined a sprawling taxonomy of over 1,000 tags into 18 meaningful focus areas, making it easier for users to navigate the site and search through their extensive archive. In response to trending news coverage, we developed a dynamic collections tool that allows the FutureEd editorial team to quickly create hyper-specific, topic-based listing pages by blending multiple tags into a single view (no new content creation required). Editors can respond to the news cycle in minutes, curating relevant "digest" pages for their readers without manually selecting individual stories or spending days producing new content.
Finally, we managed the migration of content to the new platform, ensuring that nothing was lost in transition and their deep archive of material was fully in tact. The result is a clean, engaging, and highly functional website that clearly communicates FutureEd’s mission, showcases their research, and empowers both editors and visitors to explore the full breadth of their work.
