Our Client
Victor Ekpuk is an internationally renowned Nigerian-American artist based in Washington, D.C. His multidisciplinary practice spans paintings, drawings, sculpture, illustrations, and monumental public art. Drawing inspiration from nsibidi, an indigenous ideographic writing system from southeastern Nigeria, Ekpuk has developed a distinctive visual language exploring cultural memory, identity, and the shared human experience.
Our Approach
We created a new digital portfolio designed to let the work take center stage while making a complex body of work easy to explore. The site needed to accommodate everything from intimate drawings to monumental public installations, while giving curators, collectors, institutions, and the broader public a clear way to understand Ekpuk’s practice. Liz Rose led the project from design through development and content entry, building the site in Framer and creating a flexible structure that makes it easy to organize and expand the artist’s growing body of work.

Project Summary
Victor Ekpuk’s practice spans more than three decades and encompasses a diverse range of work, from paintings to drawings to sculptures to murals and large-scale public installations. The challenge was not simply to create a beautiful portfolio, but to build a digital framework capable of representing the breadth of his practice without overwhelming the viewer.
We developed a clear content structure around the major categories of Ekpuk’s work, allowing visitors to move naturally between paintings, drawings, sculptures, public art, illustrations, and larger projects. Individual projects provide space for the work to be experienced visually while still offering context around each piece.
The new site also brings together the broader ecosystem surrounding Ekpuk’s practice. A dedicated biography establishes the artist’s history and influences, while an extensive press and interviews section connects visitors with conversations, exhibitions, institutional coverage, and scholarship surrounding his work.
A significant part of the project was the content build itself. Liz Rose organized, formatted, and entered the artist’s extensive body of work and supporting materials, translating a large collection of existing information and imagery into a consistent digital experience.
The result is a flexible, image-led website that gives Ekpuk’s work room to breathe while making his practice easier to navigate, discover, and share.
